Right off, I was very glad that I did. Ted’s Woodworking contained a gazillion (actually, the cover page said 16,000) woodworking plans, covering everything you could possibly make out of wood. My favourite was a category for woodworking projects for kids: Ted’s Woodworking included projects that young children could make on their own, complete with easy to follow instructions and more simplified diagrams. The projects are perfect for getting my kids started on woodworking during weekends.

Every plan included in Ted’s Woodworking package came with clear detailed diagrams that dissected every piece that goes into the finished product. The pictures and the diagram drawings were high-quality and extremely easy to understand. Aside from blueprints and schematics, each plan is provided with systematic instructions, and helpful hints for getting a particular technique perfect. Unlike some woodworking plans that make you guess, every step of the project is outlined; you start by gathering all of the necessary materials and equipment, progress to cutting out all of the needed pieces, then accurately guided through the final assembly. As long as you follow everything exactly, you will end up with a project that looks just like it is pictured.

Overall, Ted’s Woodworking really was a bargain. Ted’s Woodworking also came with several bonuses; my favourite is the AutoCad plan viewer that allows you to edit and modify woodworking plans to your specifications. For example, if were working with a plan for a cupboard that had a length of five feet but I only wanted to make a cupboard that is three feet long, all I had to do was to enter the desired settings and the program would make the adjustments for you. This feature is an absolute timesaver, and has already saved me a lot of lumber by preventing mistakes in measurements.
