Whenever you have to pee is ok
In a sense you should water when your plants are dry, but again sometimes they just aren’t able to move water up as fast as it’s evaporating. Some veggies just won’t make it in high temps.
You need to be careful, you can actually overwater. If your plants are in pots you might be able to water twice a day, but daily is likely. If you’re garden is in soil, and not in elevated planters, I’d be hesitant to water even every day. Your soil needs to dry out between watering, or else fungus will grow. So, stick your finger in the soil, and test it. If it’s dry, water. When you water, you should water heavily and deeply. This should help you water less frequently. Again, sometimes with veggies and upper 90′s, it’s hard.
Today we are having a cold front. The high will only be 92 instead of 100. I water every other day early in the morning. I just finished today’s watering. Water deeply. The worst time to water is late in the day. You do not want the plants to go to bed with wet foliage.
You should water when the top inch or so of soil is dry or you could water daily. Try not to water at noon if you’re watering overheard because that’s the hottest time of day and so more water evaporates then.
